Q. How do I sign-up for tuition?

Q. What happens after I enquire about tutoring?

You will receive a call from us where we will talk more about your tutoring needs, tell you about our process and book a free online consultation.

Q. What subjects can you tutor?

We have almost 200 tutors who teach a wide variety of subjects. We cover all academic subjects and also study skills.

Q. How will I know how the student is progressing and what is being taught in their tutoring sessions?

All of our tutors are required to write session reports following each lesson which you will be able to view. This will be a summary of the content taught in the lesson and what the student did well and found difficult. We will also have regular check-ins with you and the tutor to check in on progress and if there are any tweaks that need to be made at all.

Q. What age can you tutor?

We offer tuition for all ages. We cover primary, secondary up to GCSEs, then A Levels, and adult learning.

Q. How do you choose which tutor to match with the student?

We have a proven personalised matching system. We will get to know the student and their needs during the consultation, and we will then choose the tutor based on learning styles, subject content and personality, to ensure the student can build on their learning with a tutor who really clicks with them.

Q. Is your tutoring online or in-person?

We offer both online and in-person tutoring, where the tuition would be delivered in the student’s home, or alternatively in a library, school or other public location.

Q. Who are your tutors?

Our tutors come from a variety of backgrounds. We have some who are teachers, but we find it can work well when tutors aren’t from a teaching background. We have a number of students and graduates amongst our tutors, and we’ve had a lot of success matching our students with someone young, who they can relate to and who can act as a mentor to them, helping with not just the subject itself, but also general study skills.

Q. How do you recruit your tutors and what do you look for in a tutor?

We have a 3-step recruitment process, finishing with an in-person interview. The main things we look for in a tutor is that they have an engaging personality with a passion for their subject, that they have the required subject knowledge, and we test their ability to explain concepts.

Q. Do your tutors have DBS checks?

Yes, all our tutors have an Enhanced DBS Check.

Q. What will be covered in the sessions, and will they be linked to the school curriculum?

The sessions will be tailored to the individual needs of the student. The tutor will assess their level and establish any weaknesses. With your permission, they will also liaise with the school teacher(s) on the content covered and coming up, and they can then pre-teach content or cover it after it’s been done at school, where it will benefit the student.

Q. Will homework be given to do in between the sessions?

This will vary for each student, depending on the time until the exam, if relevant, and the time the student has available to do work between the sessions. We do encourage extra work between the sessions to consolidate the learning, but we appreciate not everyone has the time for this and it may not be appropriate for the learner, so it is to be agreed between the tutor, parent and student. Sometimes, homework given may be simply to revise a particular topic, which can then help the student to structure their revision.

Q. What will be the frequency of sessions?

This will be discussed in the initial meeting and the Education Consultant will recommend the best frequency of sessions, based on the aims of the tutoring and the time period. You can then decide what you’d like to go with. As a general rule, we recommend having at least one session per week per subject to get the most from the tutoring.

Q. When do sessions normally take place?

Our tutors will be flexible to fit around your schedule. In the initial consultation, we’ll take down all your possible available slots and then select a tutor who is available when you are.
